Top Ten Reasons to Live at SDSU:
10. Live close. Sleep
more, drive less. Living on campus means avoiding the hassle of sitting
in traffic wondering if you will make it to class on time. Which means
a few more precious hours of sleep.
9. It's all included. Pay
one bill. It's all included with most housing
contracts: local
phone and voicemail, Internet connections in
each room, cable tv, microfridges in most rooms (mini fridge/freezer/microwave).
Most halls have access to swimming pools, volleyball courts,
and kitchenettes for hall events. All residents have membership
to the Aztec
Recreation Center.
8.
Food choices galore. Which means no cooking! SDSU
has over
16 Dining
Locations to choose from, including our residential
dining facility, The
Dining Room at Cuicacalli Suites. The Dining Room is all-you-care-to-eat
and has a huge variety of entrees at every meal. Think
of all the time you'll save when you don't have to
go grocery shopping or prepare meals, and best of all,
you don't have to clean up a messy kitchen.
7. Lots of Living Communities. SDSU
has living communities tailored to your needs and interests.
Whether you're looking for learning communities with specific
course packages or a lifestyle community about physical
fitness, there's lots of options for you!
6. SDSU's endless activities, events
and opportunities. Bored at home on a Friday night? Looking for something to do?
Aztec Nights offers fun and entertaining weekend activities during the semester. Aztec
Nights provides safe, healthy on-campus parties, movies and attractive social events for all students. These programs are offered on weekend
nights (Thursday, Friday and
Saturday) and run from 10 pm to 2 am.
With over 300 clubs and organizations,
there's always something going on. Associated Students
is constantly sponsoring some event or concert. And
there's always some sort
of sporting event to attend. Want to get involved?
Look no further than your hall. Each residence hall
has a hall council, responsible
for hall programming and events. SDSU also has an award
winning Residence Hall Association, the executive council
for all of the halls. Look for hall events and
information in your weekly Hall Street Journal.
5. Friendships abound. Many
residents make life-long friends living in the residence
halls. The support network, which often develops in your
living environment, enhances your
college experience and contributes to your success. Becoming
a member of the campus community helps you gain valuable
experience essential to
today's diverse workplace.
4. You want options? We've
got options. Single?
Double?
Suite-style? Apartment living? With a choice of several
meal plans, building and room type, special living
communities, and price ranges, where else would
you find so many options in one place.
3. Academic success. Ok, here
come the statistics . . . Those who live on-campus have a 10-15% better
chance of doing well in college. Studies have shown residence hall students
may...
- have a higher GPA
- take more units
- be more likely to graduate
2. We're here to help. Each
hall is staffed by a full-time professional Residence
Hall Coordinator along with a team of paraprofessional Resident
Advisors. A
faculty member,
called a Faculty-in-Residence, also lives
in each complex. Together these in-hall staff members assist
in your transition to college
life. They
are a great resource, leading you to all the benefits of
living at SDSU from
learning about campus clubs and organizations, to finding
campus resources they
are eager to help.
Each residence hall front desk is open
24 hours a day and a security monitor is on duty from
8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. to ensure compliance with residence
hall procedures. Hall staff also works closely with university police on
campus safety issues. (Villa Alvarado apartments has a separate desk operation
schedule.)
1. It's your life make something
of it. Being so close to all the campus resources,
no wasted time commuting or cooking, being within walking
distance of everything there's
really no excuse. Make the most of your college experience!
Go to class, take time to study, make friends, join
hall council, work on campus, join a club
(you could even start a club), work out at the ARC,
go to a concert, become AS President and so much more.
Do it all!
Let's face it, when you live at college, you live the college life.
When you don't, you don't. The choice is yours . . . Come
live at SDSU!
